Read on for an inspiring conversation about confidence, resilience, and what it truly means to take up space.
As the founder of Prescription, what inspired you to create a space that empowers movement and community, especially for women?
When I created Prescription Pilates, my goal was to build more than just a studio—I wanted to create a movement. From day one, it was about energy, strength, and connection. I saw a gap in the market for a dynamic, high-intensity Pilates experience that wasn't just about slow, controlled movements but about powerful, athletic flow. I wanted to break the misconception that Pilates is only for rehabilitation and show that it can be just as empowering, challenging, and transformative as any other workout.
Beyond the workout itself, community has always been at the heart of Prescription. Women thrive when they feel supported, encouraged, and part of something bigger. I wanted our studio to be that space—a place where women walk in feeling welcomed and walk out feeling stronger, both physically and mentally. Seeing our clients form friendships, build confidence, and push their limits is what makes this journey so special.
Pilates is often seen as a practice that builds both physical and mental strength. How do you think it helps women feel more confident in their bodies?
Pilates is incredibly empowering because it teaches women to connect with their bodies in a way that few other workouts do. The dynamic nature of our method also allows women to let go, move freely, and release tension, creating a sense of both physical and emotional liberation. It’s not just about appearance—it’s about control, balance, and resilience. When you master a movement on the Reformer that once felt impossible, you build trust in your body’s abilities. That confidence carries into everyday life.
On a deeper level, Pilates encourages presence and mindfulness. You have to focus, engage, and be fully in the moment. For many women, that’s a rare opportunity to tune in, rather than being caught up in external pressures or self-doubt. It’s a workout that gives you strength, energy, and a deeper appreciation for what your body can do, rather than just how it looks. And that is incredibly powerful.
What challenges have you faced as a female entrepreneur, and what advice would you give to other women looking to build something of their own?
Being an entrepreneur comes with many challenges, and as a woman, navigating certain business spaces can require extra confidence and persistence. Whether it’s securing funding, negotiating contracts, or simply having your vision taken seriously, building something of your own demands resilience and clarity in your goals.
My advice? Trust yourself and build something YOU believe in. The world doesn’t need more copies of what already exists—it needs innovation, passion, and authenticity. Surround yourself with a strong network of other female entrepreneurs and mentors who can provide support and guidance. Community is everything, whether it’s in fitness or business. And finally, don’t be afraid to take up space—your ideas, your vision, and your leadership are just as valuable as anyone else’s.
Who are the women that inspire you—whether in business, fitness, or life?
I’m inspired by women who break barriers and redefine what’s possible—from athletes to entrepreneurs and creatives. In fitness, I admire women who have pushed past traditional expectations and built their own unique methods and communities. In business, I look up to female founders who have scaled companies while staying true to their values. And in life, I’m inspired by the women around me—my team, my friends, the clients who walk into our studios every day. Watching them grow, evolve, and challenge themselves is what fuels me to keep building something meaningful.
